One of the primary attractions of the region of Umbria, in Assisi, and the nearby towns, is trekking along the historic trails of the via di Francesco, once followed by the faithful Christian followers of Il Poverello, on their pilgrimages to visit sacred relics at the basilicas, a demonstration of devotion to their faith. Along the via delle Sette Strade along the pianura near my home in Gubbio, one will happen upon un tabernacolo periodically, where you can stop and rest, genuflect, meditate, and carry on to your destination. As you take in the fresh air and invigorate yourself, you can feel your personal power connecting to the ethereal, to the nature that surrounds you.
The Via di Francesco can be accessed from Firenze, Toscana or Rimini to the north, and from Roma, Lazio to the south. Follow the meandering paths that lead to Assisi.
